James Pearson Trio – The Observer

Posted by in James Pearson Trio, Reviews, Ronnie Scotts

One of an almost extinct species – resident band at a major jazz club – this trio have been appearing at Ronnie Scott’s for three years, both in their own right and as accompanists to big jazz stars. These nine numbers, recorded live at the club, show what regular, concentrated playing together can do for three already outstanding players. For poise, balance and swing they’re a joy to listen to. Close your eyes and the ambient sound of glasses, cocktail shaker and subdued conversation will put you right there at a front-row table.
