UK Jazz Radio – CD of the month

Ukjazzradio first CD of the month is Swing the Club from the James Pearson Trio. This CD was recorded live over four nights at Ronnie Scott’s where the trio is the house band

The tapes were simply left running during the Trio’s normal sets and left for a while until James and Pete North, who recorded the album, started listening to them. This process is helpful when recording improvised music, “sometimes you remain too close to it, other times you are able to distance yourself and judge the music for it’s merits as a recording, rather than a live jazz performance” said James Pearson.
